SupportAnimal.com cannot guarantee that landlords, airlines, or housing providers will consistently apply or interpret federal ESA-related regulations. If an accommodation request is denied due to concerns about documentation, we may provide informational support to help you understand the situation and next steps.
Refunds are considered individually and handled on a case-by-case basis.
After changes to the Department of Transportation’s Air Carrier Access Act effective January 11, 2021, only some airlines continue to recognize Emotional Support Animals. Airline policies vary, and choosing a carrier that does not accept ESAs is not considered a valid reason for a refund.
Refunds After the Clinical Relationship Begins
For people living in Arkansas, California, Iowa, Louisiana, or Montana, and who are subject to a mandatory state-law waiting period, the required client-provider relationship begins when the Provider initiates the evaluation process. Because the Provider’s services and clinical relationship have already commenced, refunds will not generally be available solely because the Client does not wish to wait until the legally required period has been completed.
All refund requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, in accordance with applicable law, the circumstances of the order, and the services already provided. No refund is guaranteed solely because documentation cannot be issued immediately due to a mandatory legal waiting period.
