Cookie Policy

Last updated: 21 October 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how SupportAnimal.com uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies when you visit our website. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains what personal information we collect and why, and our Your Privacy Choices page, where you can change your choice at any time.

What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They let a site remember something between page views — for example, that you have already answered our privacy banner. Local storage is a similar store that holds slightly larger values but is never sent to the server automatically.

“First-party” means the storage is created by supportanimal.com itself. “Third-party” means it is created by another domain, such as a security provider. “Session” storage disappears when you close the browser; “persistent” storage stays until it expires or you delete it.

The short version

  • Necessary — required to run the site securely and to remember the choice you made. These are always on.
  • Analytics — optional. We use a self-hosted counter (Rybbit) to see which pages are read and which are not. It is on by default and you can turn it off.
  • Campaign measurement — optional. If you arrive from a tagged link, we remember which campaign brought you so we can credit it. It is first-party, on by default, and you can turn it off.
  • Advertising — none. We do not run advertising pixels, we do not track you across other websites, and we do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Session replay — off. We do not record your session on this site.

Cookies and storage we use

Cookie names and lifetimes can change as the site evolves. What matters is the category: necessary storage is always on, and optional storage follows the choice you make in the banner.

Managing your choice

You can change or withdraw your choice at any time: Cookie settings

or on the Your Privacy Choices page. The choice applies to this browser and device, takes effect immediately, and is remembered for 12 months. When we make a material change to this policy we ask again instead of assuming the old answer still applies.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, campaign measurement is turned off automatically and stays off until the signal stops.

Third-party services we rely on

  • Cloudflare — content delivery, firewall, and bot management. It may set the security cookies listed above.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile — checks that the review form is submitted by a person, not a script. It loads a widget from challenges.cloudflare.com and does not set advertising or analytics cookies.
  • Rybbit — our analytics software, running on our own server at stats.supportanimal.com. We operate it and the data stays with us.
  • Amazon SES — delivers our transactional email. It does not set cookies on this site.
  • WordPress — the content system this site runs on. Its cookies appear only for staff logins.

We do not use Google Analytics, the Meta pixel, TikTok or other advertising tags, and we do not embed third-party videos that set cookies on page load.

Cookies in your browser

Every major browser lets you see, block, and delete cookies and site data. In Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge these controls live in the privacy or site-settings section. Blocking necessary storage can break login and forms; clearing site data removes sa_consent, so the privacy banner will ask you again on your next visit.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when the cookies we use change or when the law requires it. The date at the top always shows the current version. If a change affects what we may do with your data, we will ask for your choice again rather than rely on the previous one.
